I’m excited to announce that my next novel—a mythological fantasy adventure about King Midas—was recently chosen as a top 10 finalist for the Claymore award.

This has given me a big motivating push to get the story to readers in 2024.

I’m super excited about this book as it’s a departure from what I’ve done before.

Whereas my last two novels (Loreena’s Gift and The Beached Ones) were supernatural thrillers, this is a fantasy story that blends the myth of King Midas and his touch of gold with the real King Midas who lived in 700 BC.

Yes, there was a real King Midas!

When I started writing this story, I was thrilled to discover this. Even more exciting is the fact that archaeologists are excavating King Midas’ capital city of Gordion even now. You can find a cool story about it with pictures here.

I had a blast combining historical elements with the myth to create a new world in which King Midas seeks revenge on his enemy, King Sargon II, while struggling against a pair of goddesses who care only about their own selfish desires.

I was also able to weave a bit of humor into this story—totally new for me and I loved it.

If you enjoy a fun fantasy adventure with kings, princes and princesses, jealous goddesses, magic, and fun side characters, I have a feeling you’ll like this story.

Stay tuned for more news about King Midas!
