I had so much fun at the recent “Your Writing Matters” writing workshop.

A big “thank you” and shout-out to the Western Colorado Writers’ Forum, which hosted this event. They work hard to bring writers together for educational and creative activities in the Grand Junction area.

Linda Skinner, particularly, has devoted much of her time and energy to this group over the years. Thank you, Linda!

Linda (far right) shares her choice in the “writing spirit animal” exercise.

We started out the workshop talking about all the challenges writers face in today’s world.

But then we got into the fun stuff, and I was thrilled at how willing these folks were to go along and give my exercises a try.

The writers break out into groups of two for one exercise.

By the end of the night, these writers were sharing stories and making us all laugh with their unique insights into the creative process—and into what it’s like to be a writer.

Some of the writers’ stories were fascinating—and funny!
Patrick even entertained us with a short poem.

It’s amazing how inventive adults can be when given the chance. This was a supportive and positive environment for everyone.

Thanks to you all for sharing, and happy writing!

And thanks to my mom, Mary, for setting up the book table and helping those writers who wanted to buy books!

My mom, Mary, set up the beautiful book table!
